I've just had a real cup of tea. my anlge is kooling me after the deaf bus drivers dropped me off two stops further than i wished. And my fingers appear to not be able to spell. That was "my ANKLE is KILLING me". I pulled the tendon or something after tripping over my camper while rugby tackling her during a game or rounders - and probably broke about a million child protection rules in the process!! Anyway, she was fine..a bit wet cos it was raining, but fine so its alright.
Camp was great. kinda sad to be back now in a way. It is like you're totally in a different world when you're at camp cos its just you and the rest of the team and the campers and thats you for the week of your life and then when you go back to reality its quite odd readjusting to the reality of "life". In this sense I know SU holidays can feel like...its like a week where you're on a spiritual high and then when camp is over, everyone returns to being normal again. And i know ive felt this in the past. But not this week. I dont know why, myabe it was becasue i knew God wanted me there or because of that i finally had the right attitude towards serving God and doing his work this summer, not just because i like camp. And it was weird cos my happiest times were the times when i was talking about God to my campers and answering their weird and wonderful questions, eg "arent the paslms quite up themselves?". So it wasnt like i was on a high, but more like it was a continuation of what was already there. I cant explain. I'm nust spraffing but blogging helps sort my ming out sometimes! Maybe i should rename my blog "Helen's Spraff spot". No, seriously...
Anyway, here are some random things we did
Bit of gorge walking - walking up a river/lower part of a waterfall in about 5 layers including fleecy romper suits - so attractive! It was seriously fun, if i could do that as a hobby to keep fit i would its so cool! I also jumped off a 5/6 meter height into a pool at the end which was immense - ballater bridge here i come.
bit of walking,
power boating - great fun but made me feel sick for the rest of the afternoon!
lots of games in the rain
and WAY TOO MUCH laughing. Laughing occurs, i have found, when youa re SO dead on your feet that everything becomes funny and with that about 10x funnier than it actually is. Like laughing at the synopsis of probably the worlds most awful film. Or finding one of the trainee's high on oatcakes - upi had to be there but she was actually going mad in the middle of the field last night.
My campers were lovely, and my trainee, mustn't forget her! Her and me are comlete opposites - she's all sport and i dont own a dress and im like "hmm ill take two skirts and my hairdryer to a camp in a field". Which was quite good in a way cos she knew the answer to practical things which i am hopeless on.
Anyway, I think it'll be tomorrow before i start to feel the effect of too many late night up with the other leaders - thats 4 hours sleep a night for the last three - , my multicoloured knee - i didnt deliberately try and bash up my left knee as much as possible! - and total exhaustion!
Some highlights :
playing neucumball in the dark after all the campers went in bed
the guys playing with rockets(not real ones!in the dark after the campers went to bed
BAD JOKES ( o i will miss the bad jokes....)

Hey Helen! I hope you'll be free of your ailments soon! It's really cool to hear all you got up to, it's a bit silly sometomes when you haven't got much time and someone asks how's it going and you've got all this stuff to say in answer to that question, a blog is the best way to update people on what you;ve been up to it's great! I'm slowly getting cabin fever again, having a job interview and reading and stuff helped but i've done nothing for days and so i'm suddenly ready to pick up my book again! Should be great when I actually start working whi knows when that will be the way they're going, anywho shall stop going on! Lots of love Nic xxx
thanks for your knowledge btw the questions and answers all went really well, they all got a bit hung up on the qhole speaking in tongues thing so that went on a while! Ah well i loved my group, they wer awseome! Go Nigeria!
