At the moment i am sitting revising. But my head somewhat resembles something Alien.Yup, after speculating for a while to go "Orange" again, after the Informal Ball incident, i finally decided to do something about it. My Housemates have used Henna before, so i decided that after seeing it didnt do anything terrible to their hair, it would be safe to use on mine.
And It's definitely a much more fun and bizarre process than all this packaged hair colourant stuff you can buy!
First you have to grate 2 Henna Blocks (yes that is the same grater you have used to grate cheese!!) and they are really hard! Takes some serious arm muscle! So it's grated into a sort of powder.
Then you add boiling water so its like a double cream consistency and mix it all up. By this stage its resembling some kind of Cow Pat. And bear in mind that you are about to put this on your head! Delightful I know!
Then you employ the lovely Heather (or some other willing housemate) to get all surgical with gloves and apply this...mixture to your locks. You're not able to see what's going on, except every so often when this piece of hair falls in front of your face, and its pretty grim! The Henna "mixture" makes your hair go all crispy as it hardens, its really odd i can't explain greatly!
And when all the henna is applied....you wrap your head in cling film! I told you this was a bizarre process! So you're basically looking somewhat like a cone-shaped head alien.
(Written later...)
And then you sit for at least 1 hour - but you can leave it on for 6! I went for a safe 2 hours (though that is mainly because I have to leave for church at 7:30 so washing it out at 6:30 left me an hour to wash this now solidified disgusting substance out of my hair!).
Then you peel away the cling film and literally stand under the shower head waiting for this gunk to de-solidify and and wash out your hair (covering most of the shower block and all of you in gritty powder and orange water)! Took liberal amounts of shampoo and conditioner i can tell you!
(many might actually be wondering why on earth one would want to go through such a process...its fun, really it is
See Right for the result! At the moment, hair is VERY bright!!! But I have been told that the colour will settle down so maybe i will take a better picture when it has "settled down"....
